Masters Nationals at Sugarloaf Outdoor Center, 2001

The Masters Nationals will be held in early February, 2001 at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center.

Newsletter Editor Needed

The MNSC needs a newsletter editor. Ideally, we would publish a spring, fall, and early winter newsletter. If interested, contact Chris Dorion, President, MNSC at cdorion@bangornews.infi.net

Spring MNSC Bar-B-Q and Ski

On Sunday, April 2nd, we had our annual spring picnic and ski at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center. We had great klister skiing, lots of fine food, an informal Club meeting, and Charlie Woodworthıs captivating video of his ski across Finnland in the Rajalta Rajalle Hiihto.

MNSC Elections

At our annual meeting on Sunday, October 22nd, directly before the Long Falls Dam Road roller ski, we will hold elections for officers as described in the Club By-Laws. Chris Dorion will be retiring from the Presidency.

President's Thoughts

This abbreviated newsletter reflects our need for a newsletter editor. If you are interested in promoting the sport of nordic skiing and enjoy a small amount of page layout work 3 times a year, please volunteer your time. Contact any of the Club officers, especially Chris Dorion at 866-7806 or cdorion@bangornews.infi.net

I will be stepping down as Club president in October, opening an opportunity for some one to bring new ideas to the Club. Our Club is unusual in that our commonality lies in our geographic dispersion. We are a Club for nordic skiers who do not have a local organization.

I would like to continue maintaining the Club Web Page. If anyone else would like to assist with this please contact me and I can give you the uploading protocol.

I hope to see some of you at the summer and fall events listed at the left. Many, many thanks to the event hosts. The events have always renewed my interest in nordic skiing. How much more dramatic can it get when, under a sweltering July sun with black flies and mosquitoes chewing away at us, we find ourselves discussing the finer points of classic technique or the latest waxing developments. You should not be intimidated by the events - they are geared toward the average skill level and often there are various levels of challenge to choose from. For example, on The Ride, there was a more moderate option of touring. The objective was to socialize, have a workout, and then enjoy the camaraderie and fine food provided by our Club members.

As a last note, I urge members who have not recently volunteered to get involved with the Club. There are a myriad of interesting jobs to do. Most require only an hour or time every month or so. An active Club is the best tool we have to promote the life-long sport of nordic skiing.
