Health and Safety |
|
Our Health and
Safety unit is headed up by Martha Friday,
Health and Safety coordinator. Every year,
hundreds of people are involved in accidents, or
become victims of heart attacks. Often they are
assisted by police, fire, and ambulance personnel.
For many of these professionals, their first
lifesaving skills were taught by an American Red
Cross instructor.
The American Red
Cross has a wide variety of First Aid and CPR
courses. Whether you have little or no experience
or a great deal of experience, there is a course
designed for you.
When you sign up
for an American Red Cross course you are taking
the first step in learning lifesaving technique,
ways to prevent life-threatening emergencies, and
how to lead healthy lives. Some of the courses we
offer are listed below: |
|
Standard First Aid |
|
Standard First Aid
is designed to teach basic First Aid skills and
Adult CPR. |
|
Community First Aid |
|
Community First Aid is similar to Standard First
Aid, but in addition to Adult it also teaches Infant
and Child CPR. |

First Aid -
Responding to Emergencies |
|
This course is a
multi-session course that consists of lectures,
discussions, videos, activities, and simulated
emergency situations. These components help
participants overcome the fears of responding to
an emergency, and help them learn to recognize and
care for many different types of emergency
sitiuations. The course also emphasizes the value
of a safe and healthy lifestyle in preventing
injury and illness. |
