LIFELINE: A NEW SERVICE BEING OFFERED TO
SCHUYLKILL & EASTERN NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY
RESIDENTS
The American Red
Cross is offering a new service called "LIFELINE".
LIFELINE is a home monitoring service which allows
people to continue to live on their own and
maintain their independence when circumstances of
age or disability may otherwise prevent this from
happening.
Someone is standing
by to help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Whenever
help is needed, one press of a small, lightweight,
waterproof help button activates an in-home unit
called a communicator. It puts the person in need
in touch with a caring LIFELINE monitor who talks
to the person to investigate what kind of help is
needed. If a person needs more professional help,
the Monitor will call for it immediately. If the
person presses the button and cannot speak, the
Monitor knows exactly how to handle the situation.
Our Chapter
currently has several units operating in
Schuylkill County. Recently, one of the people
made this statement about her unit: "with LIFELINE
I can live on my own. If I need help for any
reason, it's as close as my LIFELINE button.
Thanks to my sons who gave me the unit as a
"safeguard" holiday gift."
The price of
LIFELINE is surprisingly affordable. There is a
one time installation fee of $50.00 and a monthly
service charge of $35-45.00 depending on the type
of unit you have installed.
For additional
information please call the Pottsville Office,
(570) 622-9550. We will be glad to give you more
details about this special service.
